Good morning, Mesa.
Mesa approves deal for $3 billion Legacy Park
Mesa approved a deal last week for Legacy Park, a $3 billion southeast Mesa development proposing shops, restaurants, a hotel, and a public park, with city tax incentives helping move it forward.
Key facts
- 196 acres: The planned development combines retail, restaurants, and a luxury hotel.
- 20-acre public park: An outdoor public space is part of the proposal.
- The council unanimously approved the deal, including a special district used to help finance the project through taxes.
The location is southeast Mesa, but the city’s financial involvement makes this a citywide story. The approval concerns the development deal; it does not establish when the shops, hotel, or park will open.
What to watch: construction dates and the opening schedule for the public park. Mesa Tribune report.
