Gateway Library earns an international design honor

Mesa's Gateway Library has won a 2026 Library Interior Design Award, an international honor for how public libraries are built and used.

The award: given jointly by the International Interior Design Association and the American Library Association.
What it recognizes: excellence in library interior design.
Why it lands: national recognition for a Mesa public building, in a field usually topped by big-city flagship libraries.

It is the kind of notice the city's marquee cultural anchors, the Mesa Arts Center and the Arizona Museum of Natural History, more often draw. A branch library placing in an international competition says something about where Mesa has put its public spaces.
